GEORGE W. EDWARDS, of Boon Township, is a native of Tennessee and was born May 4, 1828, the sixth of ten children born to Edward and Nancy (Clemmons) Edwards, who were natives of North Carolina. Edward Edwards came to Warrick County, Ind., in 1851, locating in Boon Township, where he bought 160 acres of land which he farmed until his death, June 8, 1869. George W. Edwards lived with his parents upon a farm in Tennessee, receiving but a limited education. At the age of twenty-three he came to Warrick County with his father and lived on the farm for about six years, when he moved to Pike County, Ind., where he farmed for fifteen years. He then returned to Warrick County, purchased and settled upon the old homestead, where he still lives. Mr. Edwards has been a practical and successful farmer, and now owns 239 acres of good land and has a comfortable residence. January 8, 1858, he was married to Ardelena Woolsey, a native of Kentucky, by whom he is the father of six children: Mary E., Maria J. (Mrs. Charles Banks), Harrison A., Adela, Luella P. and Viola. Mr. Edwards is a Democrat in politics and his wife is a member of the United Baptist Church.
