McCUTCHEN, J. F., contractor and builder; residence corner Twelfth and Seymour sts.; was born in W. Virginia in 1816; came to Keokuk in 1843. In 1845, married Miss Elizabeth Pore, a native of Westmoreland Co., Penn.; born in 1822; they have four children — Virginia (now Mrs. M. Remley), Uriah, who married Miss Mary Wisenborne, of Nauvoo, Ill.; Franklin and Milton. Mr. McCutchen is a Republican; himself and wife are members of the M. E. Church. He has been engaged in contracting and building since his coming here in 1843; he put up the second brick building in this city.
