Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

SQUIRE WILLIAM T. WESTON was born in Bertie County, N. C., April 19, 1812, removed in 1827 to Stewart County, Tenn., and in 1858 to Ballard County, Ky., where he still resides. His father, Ephraim Weston, Jr., a native of Bertie County, N. C., was a soldier in the war of 1812, and died in 1819, at the age of sixty-three years. He was the son of Ephraim, Sr., a Scotchman. Ephraim, Jr., married Catherine Barnes, of Gates County, N. C., who died in 1814. Their offspring are Elizabeth (Butler), Barnes, Catherine (King and Wall), Ephraim, Benjamin, Parthena (Creasey), subject and Richard. Subject received a common school education in youth, but is possessed of a fine store of information by general reading. He married March 19, 1835, Miss Martha L., daughter of Henry and Harriet (French) Gibson, of Stewart County, Tenn. (born December 13, 1812), and to them have been born AEmilius T., Isabella M. (Thomas and Richardson), and Alice E. (Thomas). Squire Weston served twelve years as a magistrate in Tennessee. He is a farmer, having 136 acres of fine land in a good state of cultivation. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and a Democrat.
