WILLIAM O. WEAR, Fulton County, was born January 21, 1847, in Murray, Ky. He is the first of twelve children—nine boys and three girls—born to Archibald and Sallie (Meloan) Wear, natives of Alabama and Kentucky, respectively; the father of Scotch-Irish and English descent. William O. was reared in Murray, where he received a fair English education, and lived with his parents until he became of age. His father was a druggist. William O. engaged in the drug business for himself in Murray, when he became of age, and continued it for three or four years, when he was burned out. He then engaged in editing the Calloway News for four years. In 1882 he moved to Fulton, and engaged in the drug business, in which he still continues. He was married April 15, 1869, to Miss Mary E. Linn, of Calloway County, a daughter of R. C. and Nancy (Irvan) Linn, natives of Kentucky: To their union were born four children: Lura B. (deceased), Sallie B., Rubie L. and Boyd. Mr. Wear and wife are members of the Christian Church; he is a member of the Masonic fraternity. He was trustee of Murray one or two terms.
