A. F. Snow, one of the leading druggists of California, Mo., was born in Cumberland County, Ky., in January, 1854. His parents, Franklin G. and Martha J. (Ryan) Snow, were also natives of Kentucky, and removed to Lamar County, Tex., in 1860, where the mother still resides. The father was a physician by profession, and was a graduate of the Louisville Medical College. He practiced for a number of years in Kentucky, and also in Texas, but died in Mississippi during the late war, after having filled the position of surgeon in the army. He was the father of three children, two now living: A. F. and J. R, The one deceased was named Alice. A. F. Snow left Kentucky with his parents when seven years of age, went to Texas, and there remained until 1871, thus being principally reared in the latter State. In that year he came to California, Mo., and engaged as clerk for Russell & Walter, with whom he remained for one year. This firm then sold out to J. S. Humes, and Mr. Snow remained with him until 1876, when he became his successor, buying him out, and has since continued the business alone. Mr. Snow has one of the neatest drug stores in California, well stocked with all the requisites necessary for a first-class establishment. He was married, in 1876, to Miss Laura J, Barkhardt, by whom he has four children: Lula, Frank, Emma and Charles. Mrs. Snow is a member of the Evangelical Church. Mr. Snow is a member of the I. O. O. F., A. O. U. W. and Select Knights. He is now a councilman of the city.
