Anderson S. Ewing, proprietor of a livery and feed stable at Granby, Mo., was born in Lancaster County, Penn., October 11, 1840, and is a son of Samuel and Esther (Schafer) Ewing. The father was a black-smith, and in 1848 he and family went overland to California. The mother died on the trip, the father a few years later. Thus Anderson was left to battle his own way in the world without the guidance and counsel of his parents. He remained in California and Montana until 1868, following teaming, mining and herding until that date, and then returned to the States. He first located in Livingston County, Mo., but shortly after moved to Barry County, where he made his home until 1872, when he came to Newton County and engaged in mining, following this business and teaming until he went into the livery business, which he has conducted successfully for several years. His stable is one of the best in the county, and he has a good paying business. He has been twice married, first in 1865 to Miss Liberty Parker, a native of Iowa, who died in 1866, leaving one daughter, Almeda. His second marriage occurred in 1871, the lady of his choice being Frances S. Corneliason, of Barry County, Mo., and they have two children, Charles S. and James E. Mr. Ewing is a member of the A. F. & A. M.
