Daniel Worth Turner, farmer and stock raiser, was born in Perry County, Ill., August 30, 1849, and is the son of William H. and Margaret (Mitchell) Turner, natives of Tennessee, in which State they were married. The mother of our subject died in Illinois, and in 1854 William H. Turner and family moved from that State to Atchison County, Mo., where his son, Daniel Worth, grew to about seventeen years of age. In 1866 W. H. Turner moved with his family (including D. W.) to Jasper County, Mo., and in April, 1877, came to Newton County, where D. W. Turner now lives. W. H. Turner returned to Atchison County, on business, in August, 1887, and was there taken sick, dying on the 12th of September, 1887. Our subject has been successfully engaged in farming and stock raising, and owns about 600 acres of land in Newtonia Township, all well stocked and improved. He buried his wife, formerly Miss Ellen Teagarden, in full conviction with the Christian Church, beside their only child, Elmore. Mr. Turner is a public-spirited citizen, and is wide-awake to all modern improvements.
