Henry Gilman Fetters is the son of Samuel and Isabel (Parker) Fetters, both natives of Ohio. The father moved to Warren County, Iowa, in 1852. Henry Gilman Fetters was born in Clinton County, Ohio, February 23, 1840, and moved with his parents to Warren County, Iowa, in 1852, where he attained his growth. In 1873 he left this State, moved to Missouri and located in Vernon County, where he followed farming until 1886, at which date he moved to Newton County, in same State. In 1860, while in Clay County, Mo., Mr. Fetters met and led to the altar Miss Mary A. Pyle, daughter of Alfred and Frances (Jones) Pyle, natives of Illinois, whose ancestors were from Tennessee and Kentucky, respectively. This union resulted in the birth of one son and one daughter: Alice Frances (wife of James E. Kinsey, of Newtonia Township) and William E. (a student of telegraphy). Mr. Fetters and family worship at the Christian Church, and are highly respected citizens.
