Hiram Wilson Estes, farmer, was born in Franklin Township, Newton Co., Mo., December 18, 1848, and is the son of Hiram and Permania (Farmer) Estes. The parents settled in Franklin County, Mo., at an early date, and moved from there to Newton County about 1840. They were the parents of eight sons and four daughters. Their son, Hiram Wilson, was reared on a farm in Newton County, and was married in this county to Miss Minerva Jane Herod, a native of Tennessee. The result of this union was the birth of one son and one daughter named as follows: Mac Orvell and Junie Etta. Mr. Estes is the owner of 200 acres of good land, well improved, and is engaged in dealing and shipping in live stock. He is a charter member of the Farmers’ Alliance, and is treasurer of the Home Alliance. He has been a member of the school board of his district, and he and his family worship at the Protestant Methodist Church.
