Julius Fishel, general merchant, Granby, Mo., has been a resident of Newton County for over eleven years, and is numbered among its leading merchants. He was born in Germany December 7, 1852, and is a son of Solomon and Bertha Fishel. He was reared with a mercantile experience, and becoming impressed with the opportunities offered a young man in the United States came here in 1876, a year later locating in Newton County, and has been identified with the same up to the present time. He had the misfortune to lose his store building and part of his stock by fire in November, 1886, but at once resumed business, and he now carries one of the largest stocks in his line in the county. He commands a large trade, and is thoroughly reliable in all his transactions. May 18, 1884, Mr. Fishel married Carrie Miller, a native of Wisconsin, and by her has one son, Edwin.
