Ruel I. Henderson, dealer in real estate, was born in Jefferson County, N. Y., August 30, 1829, and is a son of Hazael and Joanna (Igleslee) Henderson, both of whom were born in New York State, the latter in Chautauqua County. Ruel I., who is the youngest of their nine children, eight living, was reared in Jefferson County, and in 1849 went to Illinois, locating in Winnebago County, where he lived about five years. He then moved to Wisconsin, where he learned the miller’s trade, and followed that calling twelve years. From Wisconsin he went to Iowa, where he remained until 1869, working at his trade. He has been engaged in the real estate business for many years, and is one of the live men of the county in which he resides. No man in the county is better posted in real estate than he. Mr. Henderson was married November 15, 1857, to Emma Coonrod, also a native of New York, and she is the mother of five children: Alvin A. (in New Mexico), Evaline A. (wife of W. O. Williams), Nellie (wife of N. H. Kelso), Ettie (wife of C. W. Owens) and Lottie.
