Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. Warner & Co.   These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. PETER BRIGHT, born in Lancaster county, Pa., January 6, 1805. He was a potter by trade, having served his apprenticeship in Greensburg, Pa., but made a business of farming after the death of his father. He always took an active part in township affairs; was a member of school board, and held other offices in the township. He gave the lot on which the United Presbyterian church is built. He erected a fine residence on the bank of the river, where his daughters now reside. He was married to Margaret V. Parsell, of Plum township, this county, and to them were born eleven children, as follows: Harriet (Mrs. McNickle, deceased), Margaret (Mrs. Samuel Fullerten), Adam (married to Elizabeth Hulton; he died at Andersonville in 1863, having served two years in the army), Charles R. (enlisted in the army in October, 1861, passed through the battle of Gettysburg, and was killed July 10, 1863, near Boonesboro, Mo.), Sarah B. (Mrs. Kernaly), Michael (who died in infancy), Salina (Mrs. William Anderson), Peter Winters (who died in March, 1868), Rachel K., Eliza A., Mary J., at the old home. Peter Bright died November 19, 1858; his wife Margaret died July 2, 1872; she was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
