Iverson J. Walker, farmer and resident of Williston, Fayette Co., Tenn., was born in Caswell County, N. C., November 20, 1823, and is a son of Job and Sarah (Garrison) Walker, both natives of Orange County, N. C. The father was born in 1778, and died very suddenly in Fayette County, in 1852, from heart disease. The mother was born in 1795, and died in Fayette County in 1861. They married in North Carolina in 1810. In 1848 they moved to Fayette County, and settled near the point where Williston now stands, and spent the rest of their lives. The father was quite a successful farmer; he never united with any denomination but was a man of good morals, and a great friend to the cause of religion. The mother was a Presbyterian. Our subject is the sixth of seven children. He was chiefly educated at Leasburg, N. C. When twenty-five years old he moved with his parents to Fayette County, and has since made it his home. He lived with, and cared for his parents until they died. In 1853 he came in possession of the old homestead. Mr. Walker has been an active man all of his life; he now owns 340 acres of good land in Fayette County and 320 in Crittenden County, Ark. May 3, 1854, he married Miss Sarah A. Currie, born in Haywood County, Tenn., June 25, 1831. They had six sons and four daughters, four sons and two daughters living: Iverson J., born June 13, 1861; Sallie M., married to H. P. Hobson, and living in Somerville; Lea E., born March 8, 1868, and living with her parents; Wilber I. born July 12, 1870, living with his father. Mr. Walker is a Democrat and with all of his children belongs to the Methodist Church. Mrs. Walker is a Cumberland Presbyterian. Mr. Walker is a moral kind-hearted man, and an eminently just one.
