The burial crypt of Moe Howard, of "The Three Stooges," in the mausoleum at Hillside Memorial Park, Culver City, California. Moe was born as Moses Henry Horwitz on June 19, 1897, at Brooklyn, New York. He was the fourth born of five sons. (His older brother, Samuel "Shemp" Howard was the third born; his younger brother, Jerome "Curly" Howard was the fifth born.)

Moe's distinctive "bowl cut" hair style was of his own creation that came about when as young boy with shoulder length hair, he cut his hair himself. His performing career began in the 1920's as a young teen. He soon afterward became a part of "Ted Healy and His Racketeers" later known as "Ted Healy and His Stooges." Beginning in 1934, the group consisting of Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Shemp Howard became known as "The Three Stooges." During the coming 35 years, "The Three Stooges" were the subjects of 220 short films of which the best known are the 190 which were made with Columbia Pictures. The Three Stooges short films were originally developed for use in theaters. Beginning in 1958, the earlier Columbia Pictures films were broadcast on television where they have been a continual feature ever since. The last of the regular The Three Stooges features was "The Outlaws Is Coming", in 1965. Only Moe Howard and Larry Fine were featured within all of The Three Stooges film productions. The third member featured four different actors during different time periods: Shemp Howard 1930-32 and 1946-55; Curly Howard 1932-1946; Joe Besser 1956-57; and Curly Joe DeRita 1958-1969.

Moe Howard died of lung cancer on May 4, 1975 at Los Angeles, California. He was 77 years old. His remains are in a crypt within the mausoleum, Garden of Memories, Alcove of Love, Wall C, Crypt 233, at Hillside Memorial Park, Culver City, California. See the additional photos below.
