A photo of the tombstone and grave site of Robert William Greer, better known by his stage name of Dabbs Greer. Greer was born April 2, 1917 at Fairview, Missouri, the son of Randall Alexander and Bernice Irene Dabbs. He combined the surnames of his parents to create his stage name of Dabbs Greer.

Although Dabbs Greer is best known for his role as Reverend Robert Alden on the Little House On The Prairie television series, it was but one of the hundreds of roles that he played over a career that spanned more than sixty years. His first film appearance was as an uncredited extra in a movie that was being filmed in nearby Pineville, Missouri titled Jesse James (1939) starring Tyrone Power (as Jesse James), Henry Fonda (as Frank James) and Randolph Scott.

The roles that Greer played were a wide range including from the very lovable to the no so likable bad guy. He was in the very first episode of the television series, Superman and he returned for two additional episodes later. Several times Greer played the character of a minister. Not only was he a minister on the Little House On The Prairie series, he was also the minister who performed the marriage of Rob and Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show; the minister who performed the marriage of Mike and Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch; and he also portrayed a minister in the Picket Fences series. A partial listing (and only a small portion) of other television series in which he made an appearance include: The Lone Ranger; Father Knows Best; Wyatt Earp; Pony Express; Bat Masterson; Death Valley Days; Jack Benny; The Rifleman; Dr. Kildare; The Twilight Zone; The Outer Limits; Rawhide; The Andy Griffith Show; Wagon Train; Lassie; The Fugitive; Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.; Petticoat Junction; Mannix; Bonanza; Barnaby Jones; Ironside; Gunsmoke; Cannon; The Rockford Files; The Incredible Hulk; Charlie's Angels; Rosanne; L. A. Law; and Ally McBeal.

Dabbs Greer died on April 28, 2007 in Pasadena, California. He was 90 years old. His remains were cremated and the ashes returned to his hometown of Anderson, Missouri to be buried in the plot of his parents in Peace Valley Cemetery. See the additional photos below.
