The grave of the infant son is next to that of Laura's mother, Caroline Ingalls and is located in the De Smet Cemetery, De Smet, South Dakota.

Almanzo and Laura had only one other child, a daughter named Rose who was born December 5, 1886 in De Smet, South Dakota. Rose Wilder (Lane) died at the age of 81 at Danbury, Connecticut on October 30, 1968.

Three generations of the Ingalls family each had a son who died before birth or soon thereafter. Charles and Caroline Ingalls had a son named Charles Frederick "Freddie" Ingalls who was born November 1, 1875 at Walnut Grove, Minnesota. He died at the age of nearly eleven months on August 27, 1876. His place of burial is unknown. The son of Almanzo and Laura Ingalls Wilder died at twelve days old in August, 1889. The daughter of Almanzo and Laura Ingalls Wilder, Rose Wilder Lane, gave birth to a stillborn son at unknown date. This was the only child Rose ever had. Of the five children of Charles and Caroline Ingalls, only Laura had children. As a result, Rose was the only grandchild who survived to adulthood. Since Rose had no surviving child, the direct family line of Charles and Caroline Ingalls came to an end at the death of Rose in 1968.
