New York Birds eye view of Lower Manhattan, Barge Office, Castle Garden, vintage print

A vintage print of a Bird's-Eye View of Lower Manhattan, New York. The tip of lower Manhattan is known as Battery Park. Castle Garden was located at the left side of Battery Park in this view; Barge Office was at the right side of Battery Park. Castle Garden operated from August 1, 1855 to April 18, 1890. Barge Office operated from April 19, 1890 to December 31, 1891 and again from June 15, 1897 to December 16, 1900. Ellis Island (not shown here) operated from January 1, 1892 to June 14, 1897 when it burned and Barge Office was again used. The new (2nd) Ellis Island immigration facility opened on December 17, 1900.
