Boston, Massachusetts, Grave and Tombstone of Mary Goose, "Mother Goose",  historic photo

A photo of the tombstone and grave of Mary Goose, who many believe to be the author of the "Mother Goose" childrens stories. Others are insistent that the Mother Goose stories were around before the lifetime of the Mary Goose buried here. The belief that this is indeed the author is a very old one as evidenced by the vintage postcard below which is dated 1907. This tombstone is in the Old Granary Burying Ground, Boston, Massachusetts. The tombstone inscription reads: "Here Lyes ye Body of Mary Goose, Wife to Isaac Goose Aged 42 Years Dec. [deceased] October ye 19th, 1690." See the additional view below.
