A vintage postcard of the National Monument to the Forefathers, Plymouth, Massachusetts. This monument, also known as the Pilgrim Mounument, stands at 81 feet tall, and is said to be the largest solid granite monument in the world. The cornerstone for the monument was dedicated on August 2, 1859. After thirty years of construction, the finished moument was dedicated on August 1, 1889. A 2012 movie featuring Kirk Cameron titled Monumental features this monument and an interpetation of the various virtues and symbols in the design of this monument.
